Help Wanted

So you want to join ranks with COMA.
Before applying this is what you need to know about our positions.
In addition all individuals must be passionate about the scene, we do this for the love of the music after all.
All positions are VOLUNTEER positions, no monetary pay is involved but there are perks involved (free shows, early access to CDs, free COMA gear) depending on your chosen position.

Interviewer / Interview Writer:

  • Interviews will be set up for you along with access to the show (if applicable).
  • We conduct interviews via phone, Skype and email as well as in-person video interviews.
  • Must provide a digital video camera (with external mic if possible) if recording video interviews.
  • For interviewers, you will be given an interview to write prior to being given one to conduct yourself to assess your question writing abilities. There will be a deadline for this and you will be expected to meet it.

Feature Writer:

  • This will consist of an in-depth history of the band.
  • You will be working very closely with the artist to develop a good relationship and obtain some good, in-depth knowledge for the feature.
  • We are open to suggestions on what bands to feature but the editor will make the final decision as to which features get done.
  • Artist features have a one month deadline.

Concert Photographer:

  • Access to the show will be provided whenever possible.
  • Must be able to shoot live shows with no flash or approved flash techniques.
  • Semi-pro to Professional camera equipment preferred.
  • Send a sample or link to previous work when you email us.
  • Many labels prefer to have a review to go along with the photos so see if you can hook up with someone who can review the show (this is not a deal breaker).
  • Concert photos should be turned in within 2 weeks of shooting the show.

Concert Videographer:

  • Access to the show will be provided whenever possible.
  • Must have a Mini DV, DVD or other digital format video camera.
  • Must be able to shoot in 16:9 (widescreen) format.
  • Send a link to previous work when you email us so that we may assess your style.
  • Concert videos should be turned in within 2 weeks of shooting the show.

CD and/or Concert Reviewer:

  • CDs to review will be provided.
  • If you are reviewing a concert, access to the show will be provided.
  • If you have written reviews before send a sample to assess otherwise you will be given a review to write as an application.
  • CD Reviews have a 2 week deadline from the time you receive the promo. Concert reviews are due one week from the show.
