Android Lust – Crater Vol. 1

Review by: Zander Buel

android lust_crater-vol-1  The most intriguing characteristic of Android Lust’s mastermind, Shikhee D’iordna, is how she slides into the industrial genre without seeming to take direct influence from any current or past trends that have crowded it. Moreover, if you set aside D’iordna’s subtle vocal acrobatics of possessed whispering and frantic screaming, which are present in every album, each release since her 1998 debut has shown startling growth, utilizing synthesizer textures in experimental fashion. :2011 Year In Review: Mary Bauer – COMA Staff

Mary Bauer – CD Reviews, Publicist

When COMA asked me to make a list of my favorite releases for 2011, I ran right to my computer and looked up all the great music I had purchased over the year. I was all excited to list Skold Vs. KMFDM, Android Lust and APOP’s Rocket Science. But, then I realized that 99% of the music I purchased for this year…was not released in this year. I am such a bad music fan. I don’t even have the new KMFDM or VNV Nation yet. (more…)

:Podcast: The Oontzcast – Episode Nine

This episode might be a bit confusing. Christina, Tiffany and j. all make an appearance at some point. Christina and j. had some time to kill after the interview with Filter so they decided to record. It had been a long day so it got a bit silly but that is not too strange for this show now is it? :CD Review: Android Lust – The Human Animal

Android Lust – The Human Animal
Released: August 10, 2010
Label: Synthetic Music
Band Website: www.androidlust.com

Review by Amy Reynolds

Android Lust has returned with a new release after their nearly five year break away from the music scene.  No longer releasing under the Projekt Records label, Shikhee (the singer/songwriter for the band) decided to create her own label by the name of Synthetic Music.  The Human Animal, which released August 10th, combines elements of industrial, trip-hop, and gothic music with synthesized sound and live instrumentation, producing a collective group of songs with an eclectic resonance.

:Concert Review: Android Lust – Animalia Tour

Android Lust – Animalia Tour
Opener:  Mankind is Obsolete
August 13, 2010
Club Anything – Milwaukee, WI

Review by: Matt Fanale
First off, this is a biased review. I’ve been a fan of Android Lust’s music for years. I consider Shikhee’s vision and output some of the most original in our little scene— she gives me chills the way PJ Harvey does. She’s raw and honest and that’s just damn appealing to me in a scene that generates a lot of clones and artists that only play at the kinds of songs Android Lust creates.

With that said, I saw Android Lust with Mankind is Obsolete on August 13th at Milwaukee’s Club Anything, an intimate venue by some standards but definitely big enough to justify many of the artists they’ve pulled in over the years (Icon of Coil, Chemlab, Imperative Reaction, etc.). The venue, now smoke free and gratefully so (the ventilation there left a lot to be desired), had a decent and enthusiastic turnout.
