These two compilations are sold separately yet I have made the decision to bundle them together for this review because, well, they really compliment each other and, for being a donation based purchase, you cannot go wrong buying them both. Straight from the CRL Studios website: “this is a donation based release to help support continued releases from CRL Studios and to showcase some of the promising artists we have had the pleasure of working with and getting to know over the last few years.†The roster of bands on these compilations is a bit of an eye opener with labels being represented such as Crunchpod, Tympanik Audio, Ant Zen, Dope Records, DSBP, Aphotic, Displacer and a fistful of unsigned bands. Put these two albums together and you have 46 tracks that take you across the board of IDM, break beat, glitch, industrial, and for the level genre, electronic. The one word that I found missing on the bandcamp website for these downloads and the one phrase I think that really sums these compilations up is cinematic.

Review by: Tiffany Angeney
Matt Fanale has never been one to settle for just one thing. Like a kid in an ice cream shop, his eyes get all big when considering artists to work with. Somewhat controversial (his lyrics are generally considered shocking, if humorous) his career as a musician began in 2002 when he started Caustic (the band name being the only suggestion his then girlfriend, now wife, liked) and he enjoys bringing in other musicians to collaborate and perform live with. Over the past nine years, he has released eight albums and EPs on Crunch Pod, independently himself and now on Metropolis Records. His latest album, The Golden Vagina of Fame and Profit, was even the top seller on Metropolis Mail Order for a time this past spring. But now, having gotten beyond the kid in the ice cream shop salivating, Matt Fanale chose twenty-two artist to rework some of his songs for the digital only release Douche Ex Machina remix album. Since 1979 The Animal Legal Defense Fund have been fighting for animal rights, domestic and wild, by working to improve and expand laws protecting animals and to help make penalties against animal abusers much tougher. In association with Crunch Pod, the electronic music label founded by Ben Arp, comes the compilation album Justicia Pro Bestia containing 24 previously unreleased songs and/or remixes from an exceptionally diverse group of artists from across the spectrum of electronic music.

:News: Crunch Pod Annouces JUSTICIA PRO BESTIA Charity Compilation
Throughout much of the United States animals have about as many rights as a piece of furniture. There are more laws protecting your car then there are for animals. They are considered nothing more than “property†and do not deserve any rights. People who abuse them usually get little to no punishment for the suffering they cause.  It’s time for that to change.
