Next week we are releasing the vinyl version of Saltillo’s MONOCYTE soundtrack, MONOCYTE: THE LAPIS COIL. Earlier this year the CD version was released, and it has quickly become one of the best selling releases on the Artoffact label. It was in the top 50 electronic releases on iTunes, nabbed the #1 spot for industrial sellers on Amazon.com for over a week, and was also reviewed positively by several major press outlets, including Rue Morgue, Bloody Disgusting, and Exclaim! One of the bigger luxuries of reviewing is that (at times) one gets to hear stuff that has yet to be released. An even bigger an advantage is that–while reviewing—one has to spend a lot of attention to something that has managed to escape earlier attention. The reasons for that are numerous (everyone can think of several good and even more bad reasons, I will not add my excuses to your lists), and sometimes the reward turns into a lovely little gem. Before receiving this album I had never heard of Saltillo, menton3 or Saturday Munich. (more…)
