Departing from the EBM sensation And One was obviously a grueling task for Gio Van Oli and Chris Ruiz as their farewell video to And One fans was solemn and tearful. They displayed hand-written cards explaining their exit from And One while “Playing Dead” resonated in the background of the video. They posted on their Facebook pages that “the attitude towards life and music was too different” and they “had to go on different paths.” However, what was born out of the less than amicable split was something new, something great, something the duo called PAKT. Coming from two former members of And One, we have PAKT’s first EP Freiheit. Chris Ruiz and Gio van Oli offer us two songs plus three remixes on this small package. You have the earlier And One sound at time but there is a more prominent Industrial Rock sound than the listed EBM I keep seeing tagged onto them. (more…)
