:Concert Review: Velvet Acid Christ (San Diego)
Velvet Acid Christ
February 19, 2012
San Diego, CA @ Brick by Brick
Review by Jaymie Burzette
It was a dark and stormy night here in the city of San Diego, perfect for an evening of extremely loud Industrial music, beer, and BBQ. The last time Velvet Acid Christ (VAC) toured in the United States was twelve years ago. I was eighteen, and unfortunately for me their shows always seemed to be at 21+ venues. So when I heard that VAC was going on tour, I was as giddy as a schoolgirl. Upon arrival at the venue, I was a little surprised to see such a small turnout for the evening. Perhaps it was because the show was during a weekday, and I know some people who unfortunately had to miss the show due to having to work the next day. Since COMA is my only job currently, I was golden. (more…)

:Interview: Velvet Acid Christ
Named after a combination of a concept termed “cyber christ” and a bad acid trip, Velvet Acid Christ has been around for since the early 90s. Since it’s creation, there have been a ton of changes to not only the members, Bryan Erickson being the only constant and current member, the technology and landscape of the industry itself is virtually unrecognizable. But throughout the past twenty-plus years, Erickson has evolved both himself and his project and continually produced some of the most groundbreaking and edgy electro-industrial music. COMA’s Jaymie Burzette was able to talk to Bryan for this exclusive interview. (more…)

:2012 Year in Review: Mitchell Doucette – COMA Reviewer
2012 has been a fantastic year for music. I am a “n00b” when it comes to Industrial but I have seen the year push boundaries and demand change so I am writing this to commemorate the accomplishments of the year for music. I recently began writing for COMA Music Magazine and I always thought that the Industrial scene were whine-y goth kids with computers making music. I was wrong(mostly haha). Working with COMA opened my eyes to brand new levels of creativity and I have discovered some excellent gems in this scene as it has taught me to be open minded and to expand my listening. (more…)

Review by: Maresa Whitehead
Because I’m an honorable journalist, I must begin by telling you that I am completely biased. I am in love, lyrically and sonically, with Bryan Erickson of Velvet Acid Christ. My attraction began with The Art of Breaking Apart. Sure, I listened to and enjoyed VAC albums prior to that. But when I heard The Art of Breaking Apart, it became, for me, the epitome of Erickson’s musical career. The album was unique and showcased Erickson’s incredible growth as he broke out of his VAC boundaries and into completely new musical territory. I was smitten. So you can imagine that I came to Maldire with a rash of unattainably high hopes which I unsuccessfully attempted to quell. (more…)

Toxic Coma – Satan Rising

Review By: Mykyl Pagan
I’m a big fan of VAC (Velvet Acid Christ for those not in the know), so I jumped at the chance to review the new material from his other project, Toxic Coma. As soon as I learned that this was a project that Bryan Erickson was involved in, I knew it would be good, but I was skeptical due to it being something more experimental than what VAC does. Sometimes, an artist can do something fantastic with a certain song structure, but when challenged to create an avant-garde style of music such as Satan Rising, they can often fall short and get lost in all the chaos. DIGITAL GLITCH EPISODE 16!
DIGGING IN THE COLLECTION OF THE OLD.
Hello Ladies and Gentleman! It is another Bodacious Digital Glitch Episode! (You know its good when bodacious is used!) Prepare for the removal of ear drums and panties! This episode was done in a different direction. I have been starting to realize all the new stuff lately has been making me neglect my old CDs. And you know we just cannot have that. I have SO many albums, that I just have to go and dig back through them and bring back some names in the scene that we have not heard in a while. So I bring you a set with tracks from the past couple years. (Mostly 2010 I took notice) So get ready to pour yourself a tall one and let’s get ready to piss off the neighbors! GlitchMode is in your speakers! Feel the music.. Feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeel the music in your pants!
:Podcast: The Oontzcast – Episode Nine

This episode might be a bit confusing. Christina, Tiffany and j. all make an appearance at some point. Christina and j. had some time to kill after the interview with Filter so they decided to record. It had been a long day so it got a bit silly but that is not too strange for this show now is it?
